Chinese New Year at the Yang Sing (Monkey King Banquet with Prosperity Toss and Ping Pong Cha)

Prosperity Toss at Yang Sing – Sunday 7th February

Yang Sing in Manchester is holding a Monkey King Banquet on Sunday 7th February, with one of the highlights being a Prosperity Toss, a traditional Chinese New Year custom where each guest reaches to centre of table and tosses food such as finely cut fish, duck, noodles, vegetables etc. up in the air while saying auspicious wishes for good prosperity during the coming year. The higher the toss, the greater the prosperity!

The menu includes traditional dishes such as whole duck and whole fish; whole fish represents happiness, the fact that it’s whole represents a good beginning and a good end. The event will also see a private lion dance, a martial arts demo and also a dance performance of the legend of the monkey king.

12pm arrival for 12.30pm banquet, adults £40, children under 10 £25. To book contact Yang Sing on 0161 2362200 or visit
